Horizon League-Leading Butler Blanks North Dakota State

INDIANAPOLIS--Kali Carter recorded a match-high 17 kills and hit .317 in the match to lead Butler to a 30-23, 30-16, 30-23 victory over North Dakota State in college women's volleyball Saturday, Oct. 23, before a crowd of 111 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Carter added a match-high two service aces and made seven digs.  Four other Bulldogs recorded at least seven kills in a balanced attack that saw Butler outhit the Bison by a .342 to .132 margin.

Sheri Swanson led North Dakota State with 13 kills, setter Emily Luensmann made 26 assists and five digs, and libero Kari Fagnan made a team-high 11 digs.  Sheila Parrish and Lindsay Shockman each added eight kills for NDSU.

Shockman hit .368 with only one error in 19 tries.  Christy Stuewe, making her first start of the year for the Bison, hit a team-best .500 with four kills in eight attacks and added one block.

North Dakota State slipped to 5-16 overall and will close out its current three-match road trip Sunday, Oct. 24, at Chicago State.

Butler, which upped its Horizon League-leading record to 7-1 with a win over Wright State on Friday, Oct. 23, improved to 13-8 overall.
