Second-Half Scoring Run Helps North Dakota State Past Jamestown for Third Straight Victory

FARGO, N.D.--Myron Green scored a game-high 16 points and North Dakota State pulled away with a nine-point run to defeat Jamestown by a score of 72-52 in men's college basketball Monday, Dec. 6, before a crowd of 1,244 at the Bison Sports Arena.

Jamestown (4-6) was within 11 points the entire way until the 13-minute mark of the second half when North Dakota State (3-3) started a 9-0 run to go up 53-37 midway through the half.

The Bison, who won their third consecutive game, got 14 points apiece from reserves Brandon Smith (a career high) and David Erbes as the NDSU bench outscored Jamestown's reserves 39-13.  NDSU junior guard Phil Hahn had a season-high eight assists.

Jonathon Castillo scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to pace the Jimmies, who lost for the fifth time in six games.  Lawrence Brooks chipped in 14 points.

NDSU hit 26 of 51 shots for 51 percent and Jamestown made 23 of 48 shots for 47.9 percent.  The Bison were 15-for-18 at the free-throw line and had a slight rebounding advantage, 28-26.  Erbes was the Herd's leading rebounder with seven.

The win was No. 50 for Bison head coach Tim Miles, who is now 50-42 in his fourth season at North Dakota State.

North Dakota State will continue its three-game home stand on Friday, Dec. 10, against Minnesota State-Mankato.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
