
Five Score in Double Figures As North Dakota State Pulls Away From Wisconsin-Stout 87-50

MENOMONIE, Wis.--Lacey Johnson recorded her third career "daily-double" with 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Dakota State University to an 87-50 win over NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday, Jan. 8, in a non-conference women's basketball game played at Johnson Fieldhouse.
North Dakota State improves to 14-0 and will travel to play the University of Cincinnati (5-8, 0-1 Conference USA) at 6 p.m. (CST) Wednesday, Jan. 12., at the Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats are scheduled to play the University of South Florida on Sunday.
Johnson, a 6-foot senior from Wessington Springs, S.D., led a group of five North Dakota State players in double-figures. Johnson hit 6-of-10 from the field including a pair of three-pointers and all four free throw attempts. Brandee Gibbs contributed 16 points, five rebounds and six blocked shots, while Danni Heintzelman finished with 13 points. Katie Lorenz and Leah Klabo each had 10 points.
The Bison broke out to early leads of 9-2 and 13-4 and never look backed in building a 47-21 halftime lead. NDSU overcame 21 turnovers including 10 in the game's first nine minutes by shooting 50.9 percent from the field including a 4-of-6 showing from the three-point line. North Dakota State held a 45-33 rebounding advantage.
Wisconsin-Stout (9-5) committed 27 turnovers and connected on just 28.1 percent from the field. Jenny McDermid led the Blue Devils with eight points, while Erin Churchill and Lindsey Geissler both added seven points.
