Bison Earn Seventh Straight Win Over Mayville State

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State scored four players in double figures and surfaced above the .500 mark for the first time all season with an 82-67 men's basketball victory over Mayville State on Friday, Feb. 11, before a crowd of 1,254 at the Bison Sports Arena.

North Dakota State, which started the season 0-3 and lost seven out of eight games at one stretch, has now won seven in a row to climb to 12-11 overall.  Mayville State lost for the fourth time in five games to slip to 13-12.

Myron Green scored 17 points on 6-of-24 shooting to lead NDSU, while Phil Hahn was 4-of-4 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points off the bench, reserve guard Matt Gerber matched a career high with 12 points, and Adam Dobmeier chipped in 10.

NDSU led 40-38 at halftime and used a 17-3 run in the second half to pull away to the victory.  The Bison outrebounded Mayville by 19 in the game and limited the Comets to only five offensive boards and no second-chance points.

Bison center Andy Kelchen led all players with 10 rebounds, Green had eight, and Mayville State's Archie Weatherspoon also had eight.

Playing without leading scorer Alexandros Anthis, who sustained an ankle injury at Valley City State on Thursday night, the Comets stayed close with the game-high 23 points of John Feggo, 19 from Gilby Sanchez, and 14 from Weatherspoon.

The Bison host Upper Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 12.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
