Box Score FARGO, N.D.--Steve Holdren and Joe Green both recorded double-doubles to lead South Dakota State to a 68-57 win over North Dakota State in men's college basketball Saturday, Feb. 26, before a crowd of 6,052 at the Bison Sports Arena.
Holdren scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as the Jackrabbits (10-18) built their 33-31 halftime lead up to 13 points at 55-42 on Holdren's 3-pointer with 10:04 to play.
North Dakota State, which had an 11-game winning streak snapped and finished its season 16-12, never got closer than six points the rest of the way.
Green scored 18 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds, and Holdren grabbed 10 boards as the Jackrabbits outrebounded the Bison 47-28 in the game. It was NDSU's largest deficit on the boards all season.
North Dakota State was led by the 15 points of forward Myron Green, 12 points from forward Andy Kelchen, and 10 points from guard Brandon Smith. Center David Erbes scored eight points and had a team-high seven rebounds.
NDSU shot 31 percent in the game on 17-of-55 shooting, and the Jacks were 21-of-52 overall for 40 percent. The teams combined for only 15 field goals in the second half.
It was the final game for both teams in their second year of a five-year transition period into Division I basketball.
