
Boyer, Carmody, Hanson, Lloyd, Kucenic, Patsie & Weiman To Be Inducted Into Bison Athletic Hall of Fame

North Dakota State University will induct its 35th annual class of seven new members into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, October 13th. The addition of the seven new members will bring the number of individuals enshrined to 209.
The newest members of the Hall are NDSU women's basketball player and track & field All-American Edie Boyer (1984-89), football All-America offensive lineman Cliff Carmody (1979-82), men's track & field and cross country national champion Doug Hanson (1987-91), All-America wrestler Sam Kucenic (1968-71); football All-America running back Doug Lloyd (1985-88), women's basketball star Dana Patsie (1985-88), and women's track & field and cross country All-American Bev Weiman-Owen (1983-88).
The announcement was made by Hall of Fame committee chairman Lee Petersen.
The induction will take place at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. with the induction ceremonies slated to start at 11:30 a.m. WDAY television personality Dana Mogck will serve as the Master of Ceremonies with WDAY radio broadcast Voice-of-the-Bison Scott Miller conducting the inductions.
The group will also be recognized at the homecoming football game on October 14th between NDSU and Mississippi Valley State.

EDIE BOYER, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, FORWARD/TRACK & FIELD, THROWS, 1984-89
World class track & field competitor in the discus throw and shot put ... Competed at the national and international levels in the discus after leaving college ... Had PRs of 210-3 in the discus (1996 outdoor), and 51-11 (1990 outdoor) and 51-7.75 (1991 indoor) in the shot put ... Participated in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Trials ... Placed fourth at the 1998 Goodwill Games ... Highest finish was sixth in qualifying in the discus at the 2000 Olympic Trials with a throw of 191-6 ... 16th in qualifying at the 1996 World Championships ... Won the 1995 USA Outdoors with a season-best effort of 205-4 and was ranked No. 1 in U.S. by Track & Field News ... Had eight top 10 finishes at the Olympic Trials or USA Outdoor ... Ranked in the top 10 in the U.S. by T&FN eight times from 1991-2000 ... One of six children, Edie came from a sports-oriented family ... She played soccer, basketball and softball as a prep athlete at Hastings (Minn.) High School, making it to the Minnesota state championships in the shot put, discus and high jump ... Edie played ice hockey with the Minnesota Checkers from 1981-83, which won the national senior title each of those years ... Boyer, who is hearing impaired, lost 80 percent of her hearing after a bout with meningitis before she was a year old ... An avid motorcyclist and woodworker ... Currently, Edie is a senior QA engineer at Nuclear Management Company and resides in Maplewood, Minn.
CLIFF CARMODY, FOOTBALL, OFFENSIVE GUARD, 1979-82
One of the unsung heroes in the trenches who paved the way for North Dakota State's running game ... First team Associated Press All-American and All-North Central Conference at offensive guard in 1982 ... Three-year starter on the offensive line who helped NDSU to three conference rushing titles ... The Bison never finished lower than fourth nationally in rushing during his career ... Under the guidance of Bison Athletic Hall of Fame head coach Don Morton, NDSU reached the 1981 NCAA Division II title game his junior year and the 1982 national semifinals as a senior ... A 1983 graduate of NDSU with a bachelor's degree in social science education ... Two-time all-Southwest Conference performer for Dick Fortier at Pipestone (Minn.) High School ... Pipestone won a pair of league titles during his career ... Honorable mention adidas High School All-American in 1978 ... Three-year letterwinner in football and track & field, and lettered twice in basketball ... Co-captain for both football and basketball in 1978 ... Earned his master's degree from the College of St. Thomas in 1989 ... Extensive career as an educator, coach and administrator at the high school and college level ... Prior to accepting the position, he served at the organization's Deputy Executive Director since 1999 ... He and his wife, Bobbie, have six children, Casey, Matt, Sean, Jeni, Alyssa and Lauren, and reside in Marshall, Minn.
DOUG HANSON, MEN'S TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY, 1987-91
One of the premier distance runners at any level during his career in the yellow and green ... Integral part of five NDSU North Central Conference championships in indoor (1) and outdoor track & field (4) under the direction of head coach Don Larson ... Seven-time NCAA Division II national champion (two-time national cross country champion & three-time NCAA 10,000 meter outdoor champion & two-time NCAA 5,000 meter indoor champion ... Five-time NCC track & field champion (twice 5,000 indoors, twice 5,000 outdoors, once 10,000 outdoors) ... NCC cross country champion in both 1988 and 1990 ... Earned 12 NCAA Division II All-American honors on 12 occasions (nine track & field and three cross country) ... Named NCC'S most valuable indoor track & field athlete in 1990 ... A takedown specialist, Kucenic was the first ever three-time North Central Conference individual wrestling champion for the Bison (1969-70-71) under the direction of Wrestling Hall of Fame coach Bucky Maughan ... NDSU's second All-American, finishing third in the nation at 123 pounds in 1969 as a sophomore ... Compiled records of 10-1 as senior, 16-2-1 as a junior and 18-2 as a sophomore for a career record of 44-5-1 (winning percentage of .890, second best in school history but does not meet 75-match minimum) ... Graduated from NDSU with numerous records which were eventually broken (takedowns, near falls and match points) ... Taught school for 25 years at Hempfield Area (Pa.) High School where he was a two-time Teacher of the Year ... Outstanding prep wrestler for Greensburg-Salem (Pa.) High School ... Four-year (Quad A) letterwinner who rolled up a 78-9-1 record ... The Bison compiled a 97-24 record during her career, advanced to three NCAA tournaments including a pair of NCAA Division II Final Four appearances, finishing second in 1986 and third in 1988 ... Consistency was the hallmark of this student-athlete, one of the top distance runners in NCAA Division II during her career at North Dakota State ... Worked with NDSU coaches Sue Patterson and Jerry Gores during her career ... Three-time NCAA Division II All-American in cross country, placing 18th in 1983, 5th in 1985 and 14th in 1986 ... Member of 1983 and 1985 North Central Conference cross country championship teams ... Recorded top-five finishes at NCC championships all four years she competed (1983-86) ... Bison also won the NCAA regional cross country crown in 1985 ...
