North Dakota State Too Much for Jamestown in 71-34 Romp

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State rolled to a 71-34 win over Jamestown College in college men's basketball Wednesday, Feb. 8, before a crowd of 2,091 at the Bison Sports Arena.

North Dakota State (14-10) built a 43-14 halftime lead behind 16 points from Ben Woodside and 13 from Mike Nelson, who scored the game's first seven points.

Brett Winkelman's jumper with 16:35 left in the game put the Bison up 49-18, and the NDSU lead was at least 31 the rest of the way.

Woodside finished with 18 and Nelson with 15 as the Bison rotated 10 players into the game.

NDSU center Lucas Moormann approached his second double-double of the season with 10 points and had nine rebounds.

The Bison doubled up Jamestown on the glass with a 52-26 margin.  Winkelman snared a game-high 10 rebounds and added nine points to finish short of his second double-double.

Jamestown (8-18) made just 13 field goals in the game, scoring the least points against an NDSU team since the North Dakota State College of Science scored 34 in 1947-48.

Elie Jermanous finished with nine points and Jordan Olson had eight rebounds for the Jimmies.

The win gave North Dakota State a 10-1 home record and marked the 23rd season of 10-plus wins for NDSU at the Bison Sports Arena.

North Dakota State will host Mayville State at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.

The Comets (20-4) are ranked ninth in this week's NAIA Division II poll and play host to Valley City State on Thursday, Feb. 9.
