Box Score SHREVEPORT, La.--Jimmy Baker's three-run triple highlighted a seven-run eighth inning as Centenary defeated North Dakota State 12-8 in college baseball Friday, March 24.
The Gentlemen (10-13) loaded the bases in the eighth with no outs when Nate Santiago beat out a would-be sacrifice bunt for an infield single. Tim Ryan picked up his third RBI with a walk, and a sacrifice fly by Torrey Williams pulled Centenary within 8-7.
Matt Webb was hit by a pitch for the third time in the game to load the bases again for Baker, who cleared the bases with a triple to center field.
Alex Maldonado bunted Baker home and Alex Valdivia doubled in Maldonado to complete the Centenary comeback.
Cam Feightner picked up the win for the Gents, striking out three in two innings of relief to improve to 2-1. NDSU reliever Ryan Williams dropped to 0-4 with the loss.
Bison left fielder Jared Sullivan was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Catcher Gavin Hofer and right fielder Luke Otto each had two hits.
North Dakota State (1-17) scored the game's first four runs in the third inning.
Greg Plecki moved to second base with one out on a bunt single and throwing error, Otto singled in Plecki with two outs, Charles Magedanz walked before Matt Mossey doubled in Otto, and Sullivan bounced a single up the middle to score both runners.
Centenary scored twice in the bottom of the third before a two-run double by Ryan tied it in the fourth, and Torrey Williams' RBI single put the Gents ahead 5-4.
NDSU scored four times again in the eighth, starting the inning with a Magedanz double, Mossey walk, and an RBI single by Sullivan.
After a walk to Ryan Langlais and a strikeout, Hofer singled in two runs and Langlais scored on an infield out.
North Dakota State and Centenary complete their three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday, March 25, beginning at noon.
