
North Dakota State Names Kari Thompson Assistant Women?s Volleyball Coach

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State University head women's volleyball coach Erich Hinterstocker today announced the hiring of Kari Thompson as assistant coach for the 2006 season.
Thompson, 25, is the first addition to the Bison volleyball staff under Hinterstocker, who was named head coach on May 1.
Thompson has spent the last two seasons as graduate assistant for volleyball operations at the University of Alabama, where Hinterstocker was an assistant coach for the past two years.

"I have had the opportunity to work closely with her over the past five years and she possesses the unique experience of helping build successful volleyball programs both as a player and as a coach. "Coach Thompson has a great understanding and enthusiasm for the game of volleyball, and she is a tremendously dedicated and loyal individual. We work extremely well together and she understands how I coach the game," Hinterstocker said. |

A three-year volleyball letterwinner at Wisconsin-Green Bay, Thompson spent one year with the Phoenix as a volunteer assistant coach before working at Alabama.
She began her collegiate career at Concordia-St. Paul and graduated from Wisconsin-Green Bay with a bachelor's degree in communications and the arts in December 2003. She is a native of Amherst, Wis.
North Dakota State finished the 2005 season with a 5-31 record and placed fifth in the Division I independent tournament. The Bison will be eligible for the NCAA playoffs this fall.
