Box Score AMES, Iowa?The North Dakota State women's soccer team fell behind early in the first half and never recovered in a 2-0 loss at Iowa State on Wed., Sept. 20.
In the 10th minute, Brittanie Waddell fired a ball played in by Elise Reid and Leslie Hill to give Iowa State the early 1-0 lead. Waddell's fourth score of the season proved to be the game winner for ISU as the Bison failed to find the net with only four shots on goal for the game.
NDSU picked up the pressure in the second half with seven shots, more than doubling their first period sum. The Bison had three first-period corner kick opportunities in the first 45 minutes of play while ISU generated four corners before intermission. The Cyclones had the only corner kick in the second period.
The Cyclones received an insurance goal in the 68th minute with a successful strike by Lauren Odino 22-yards from goal, crossing the ball from the left and finding the upper right corner of the net.
In the 83rd minute, Chelsea Body provided the best scoring chance for NDSU, kicking the ball just wide of the left post.
Goalkeeper Ann Gleason picked up the win for ISU (4-6-0), saving four shots i the process. Monica Morgan saved a career-high eight shots in the second straight loss for NDSU (3-3-1).
The Bison continue their road trip with a pair of contests at the Creighton University Tournament in Omaha, Neb. NDSU will face UNLV on Friday (4:30 p.m.) and Grambling State on Sunday (11 a.m.) at Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium.
