Box Score OMAHA, Neb.?North Dakota State continued to struggle putting shots on goal in a 1-0 loss against UNLV in the first match of the Creighton University Bluejay Classic held at Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium on Friday, Sept. 22. With the loss NDSU dropped to 3-4-1 on the season while UNLV improved to 3-5-1.
The Rebels got on the board in the 4th minute of play with action in front of the net after a corner kick by Katie Carney. Carney's kick was headed by a UNLV teammate, falling inside the box, causing a scrum which resulted in a Rebel goal at 3:33.
The Bison defense held UNLV to four total shots on goal with Monica Morgan scooping three attempts. Offensively, NDSU managed 10 shots with only two on goal.
“I'm happy with our overall play and that's the frustrating part,” NDSU head coach Pete Cuadrado said. “We just need to take more shots and do a better job of finishing.”
The Bison play their second match of the tournament on Sunday when they face Grambling State. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
