Box Score FARGO, N.D. (AP)--Mike Nelson and Ben Woodside scored 18 points apiece Saturday to lead North Dakota State to a 104-51 rout of North Carolina Central in the Blue Ribbon Challenge.
Nelson had four 3-pointers and shared the team lead for the Bison (2-2) with nine rebounds. Brett Winkelman, who scored 17 points, also had nine boards and five assists.
Josh Vaughan added 12 points and three assists off the NDSU bench and Michael Tveidt had 11 points.
NDSU got little production from its bench in season-opening losses to Florida and Rutgers, but the Bison got 36 points from its bench against North Carolina Central.
NDSU shot 49 percent from the field while holding NCCU to just 28 percent shooting. The Bison also owned a 51-33 rebounding edge.
Charles Futrell led the Eagles (0-4) with 12 points. Ashton Sauls added 11.
It was the first time since the first two games of the 1989-90 season that NDSU has scored 100 points in back-to-back games. The Bison defeated Minot State 117-84 on Wednesday.
North Dakota State closes out Blue Ribbon Challenge on Monday at Tennessee Tech. Florida has already won the five-team round-robin tournament with an 88-63 win over Rutgers on Saturday night.
