NDSU Places Five on 2006-07 Division I Independent WBB All-Academic Team

Eleven repeat selections highlight the 32-member 2006-07 Division I Independent Women's Basketball All-Academic team released Thurs., Feb. 1.

Making their second appearance on the all-academic team are Courtney Grimsrud, Andrea Verdegan and Megan Vogel of South Dakota State; Hilary O'Connell and Juliane Höhne of IPFW; Lisa Bue, Katie Dahlen, Kayla Dahlen and Danni Heintzelman of North Dakota State; Cinithia Ramirez of the University of Texas-Pan American, and Rebekah Peterson of Utah Valley State. Amanda Girodat of NDSU makes her first appearance. 

Ten of the 11 Division I Independent schools have at least one representative on the all-academic team. The Division I Independent Women's Basketball All-Academic team was selected by sports information directors at member institutions. Nominations from each school were accepted for student-athletes who had at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA, had reached at least a sophomore athletic standing and were a starter or key reserve for the team.

The team was comprised of 11 seniors, eight juniors and 13 sophomores.

Highlighting the 2006-07 team is the 4.00 grade point average achieved by Ashlea Muckenhirn of South Dakota State. The cumulative GPA of the all-academic team was 3.539.
