NDSU Announces Addition of Mt. San Antonio College Defensive Back John Richardson

North Dakota State University head football coach CRAIG BOHL announced Mt. San Antonio College defensive back JOHN RICHARDSON has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football and continue his education at NDSU. The Bison signed 17 high school and two junior college transfers in 2007.

The list includes student-athletes from eight different states including North Dakota (2), Minnesota (4), Wisconsin (3), South Dakota (1), Texas (4), Illinois (3), Georgia (1) and California (1).

Here is the bio of the new letter of intent signee:

JOHN RICHARDSON, Defensive Back, 5-10, 190, Lakewood, Calif. (Mayfair High School/Mt. San Antonio (Calif.) College)--Transfer from Mt. San Antonio (Calif.) College in Walnut, Calif. ... The Mounties defeated Orange Coast C.C. 29-20 to win the 2006 US Bank Beach Bowl ... Mt. San Antonio College

compiled a 9-2 record overall and went 4-1 to tie for the Mission Football Conference American Division title last year under the direction of head coach Bob Jastrab ... Intercepted two passes last season including one returned 75 yards in the 24-17 comeback win over Cerritos ... Had three career interceptions ... Played in 10 games in 2006 and finished with 42 tackles (fourth highest on team) with 14 solos, two tackles for loss and one sack ... Credited with one forced fumble and four pass breakups.

North Dakota State completed the 2006 season with a 10-1 record under the direction of Bohl, including an 8-0 record against Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) schools and a 29-24 win over Mid-American Conference member Ball State.

The Bison went 4-0 to win the Great West Football Conference championship -- the program's first league title since 1994 when NDSU was a member of the Division II North Central Conference.

North Dakota State was ranked No. 5 in The Sports Network and CSN Coaches final Top 25 polls. The Bison lost 10-9 to bowl-participant Minnesota of the Big Ten at the Metrodome.

The Bison are scheduled to begin spring practice at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 at Dacotah Field. NDSU will have 15 practice sessions culminating with the annual Outback Steakhouse Green & Gold Spring Game on Saturday, April 21.
