
Woodside, Bison Shut Down Southern Utah, 75-54

FARGO, N.D. (AP)--Ben Woodside scored 19 of his game-high 26 points in the first half to lead North Dakota State to a 75-54 Summit League basketball victory over Southern Utah on Thursday.
Woodside had four 3-pointers and shot 8-for-17 from the field for the Bison (9-9, 3-4), who snapped a three-game losing streak. NDSU shot 61 percent in the first half to take a 37-25 lead at the break.
Woodside made four of eight 3-pointers, helping the Bison go 8-for-20 from 3-point range. Mike Nelson, the only other NDSU player in double figures with 16 points, had three 3-pointers.
Woodside's steal and layup with 9:26 left in the first half capped a 15-0 run that put the Bison ahead 19-4. NDSU's largest lead was 23 points midway through the second half.
Southern Utah (4-13, 2-4) made only 17 field goals and shot 35 percent. Both were season lows.
Geoff Payne led the Thunderbirds with 14 points and seven rebounds. He was the only Southern Utah player to score in double figures.
North Dakota State hosts UMKC at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Kangaroos (7-12, 2-4) won 64-58 at South Dakota State on Thursday.
