Box Score FARGO, N.D.--Kelly Lopez made a season-high 29 digs and Brooke VandenBergh had 15 kills to lead North Dakota State to a 25-27, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22 victory over IUPUI in Summit League women's volleyball Friday, Oct. 10, before a crowd of 1,052 at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
It was the sixth straight victory for North Dakota State, which improved to 11-3 overall and remains in first place with a 5-0 record in The Summit League. IUPUI's record slipped to 9-9 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Lopez led a Bison defense that made 94 digs compared to 80 for IUPUI, which entered as the nation's top digging team. Kristen Hille made 21 digs and added 11 kills, and VandenBergh completed her double-double with 16 digs. All 10 players in the match for NDSU had at least one dig.
The Bison outhit IUPUI by a .315 to .163 margin. Redshirt freshman middle hitter Janna Deyle hit a match-high .529 with a career-high nine kills and no errors in 17 attacks. Nicole Sheridan hit .421 with nine kills in 19 attacks and Chrissy Knuth hit .400 with 13 kills in 25 swings.
It was an all-around night for Deyle, a graduate of Fargo South High School, who added two service aces, one assist, three digs and three blocks, including two solo stuffs.
Bison setters Mattie Johnson and Jennifer Lopez had 36 and 21 assists, respectively.
Kalyse Reimbold, the league leader in kills per set, led the Jaguars with 23 kills on 66 attacks. IUPUI's Shari Bernhardt made 26 digs and libero Chelsea Bastin had 19 digs.
North Dakota State hosts Western Illinois at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. The Westerwinds (6-12, 2-3) lost in four sets at South Dakota State on Friday.
