FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State dropped a 2-0 decision to inter-state rival South Dakota State on Senior Day Monday afternoon.  The lone Bison senior on the team, Nicole Rand, was honored before the game.  After a scoreless first half, the Jackrabbits notched two second half goals to shut out the Bison.  NDSU falls to 5-10-2 on the season and 2-3-1 in the Summit League.  South Dakota State has now won 10 straight games and improve to 12-3 and 7-0 in the Summit League. 

The first half was a back-and-forth affair.  South Dakota State's Steph Peterson sent a shot high in the fourth minute and NDSU's Laura Murphy returned the favor with a shot that was saved by Jacks goalie Nicole Lograsso. 

The Bison had three early corner kicks, but were unable to convert any of those chances.  At the other end, Bison goalie Kalani Bertsch made two saves on shots by the Farrell sisters.  Solid defense by both teams led to several blocked shots and the half ended with the score knotted at 0-0. 

The Jackrabbits earned a corner kick eight seconds into the second half and Erin Kasmarik converted the kick from Kerstyn Farrell to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.  After a couple more South Dakota State chances, sophomore Quin Ryan's long range shot was saved by Nicole Lograsso.  Freshman Michelle Gaffaney sent a shot wide off a corner kick a couple minutes later. 

In the 76th minute, the Jackrabbits' Kellyn Farrell added a second goal for a 2-0 SDSU lead.  The Bison did not have any more clean chances on goal.

The Bison have two more regular season games.  Next weekend, the team travels to Oakland for a 1 p.m. ET match against the Grizzlies.  The final game of the season is at Western Illinois on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 12 p.m.
