Bison Never Trail in 68-55 Win Over League Champion Oral Roberts

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never trailed Saturday as it concluded its season with a 68-55 win over Summit League champion Oral Roberts.

NDSU ended the season 16-13 overall and finished alone in fourth place in The Summit League with a 10-8 record.  The Bison are not eligible for the Summit League tournament until next season.

Ben Woodside had two of NDSU's seven 3-pointers and had 19 points to lead all scorers. He also had six assists.

Brett Winkelman had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. He was perfect on six free throws and the Bison outscored the Golden Eagles 15-5 from the line.

Baskets by Lucas Moormann, Woodside and Winkelman staked the Bison to a 7-0 lead five minutes into the game.

Oral Roberts tied it 13-13 with 8:59 left on a Shawn King basket, but the Golden Eagles never had a lead after NDSU ran off 10 straight points.

The Bison led 29-19 at the half and twice went up by as many as 20 on 3-pointers by Winkelman and Woodside in the final 5 1/2 minutes.

Oral Roberts (21-8, 16-2) shot 38 percent.  Adam Liberty was ORU's only double-figure scorer with 12 points.

A crowd of 4,833 was on hand for North Dakota State's season finale.  NDSU averaged 3,034 fans over 13 home dates, the highest average since 1998-99.
