NDSU Soccer Falls to Nebraska, 3-0

LINCOLN, NEB. ? The North Dakota State soccer team was shut out for the third time this season when they fell to Nebraska, 3-0, on Friday night.  Freshman goalie Kalani Bertsch made seven saves in the game.

Nebraska got the shooting started early when Ayasha Jamani put one on net, but Bertsch was up to the task.  Bertsch made another save on a Molly Thomas shot in the fifth minute. 

NDSU got its first shot when sophomore Candice D'Arcangeli put one over the cross bar.  Freshman Michelle Gaffaney got a chance in front of a crowded goal in the 23rd minute, but put it over the goal.

in 30th minute , freshman Kristen Whipple put a dangerous free kick into the box, but Husker goalie Brittany Pfeil came out and smothered the chance.

With nine minutes left in the first half, Aysha Jamani dribbled the ball along the goal line and put it past Bertsch to give the Huskers a 1-0 lead.

Five minutes into the second half, Nebraska was awarded a penalty kick and Jamani put it in to make it 2-0.  Shay Powell scored a goal for the Huskers in the 65th minute to give Nebraska a 3-0 lead.

The Bison continue their road trip when they head to Northern Iowa for their final non-conference matchup on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.
