Box Score WICHITA, Kan.--Wichita State scored the first 13 points of the game and cruised to a 69-57 victory over North Dakota State in college men's basketball Monday, Dec. 21, before a crowd of 10,429 at Charles Koch Arena.
Guard Toure' Murry scored a game-high 15 points for Wichita State, which won its ninth straight game to improve to 11-1 overall and 8-0 at home. The Shockers received votes in Monday's AP Top 25 poll.
North Dakota State (4-7) got on the board with a basket from Michael Tveidt at the 13:40 mark of the half. The Shockers pushed the lead to 17-2 before the Bison scored on three straight possessions.
Jordan Aaberg scored on a putback dunk, Tveidt sank a running hook shot and Josh Vaughan beat the shot clock with a long 2-pointer to make it 19-8 with 8:59 left before halftime.
Wichita State led by as many as 18 points late in the first half, but a Vaughan 3-pointer cut the deficit to 35-20 before halftime.
Graham Hatch scored six points on an 8-2 Wichita State run to start the second half, and the Shockers led by as many as 23 points late in the game.
Vaughan's second 3-pointer of the game capped a 12-0 NDSU run that got the Bison back within 11 points inside three minutes to play.
Tveidt led NDSU with 14 points and Vaughan had 13 for the Bison, who shot 41.8 percent from the floor. NDSU was 2-for-11 from the 3-point line and 9-for-15 from the foul line.
Clevin Hannah and Gabe Blair each scored 10 points for Wichita State. Hatch and J.T. Durley finished with nine points apiece.
Dejuan Flowers grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for NDSU. Wichita State had a 36-35 rebounding advantage led by seven from Garrett Stutz.
North Dakota State is off until New Year's Eve when the Bison host Centenary at the Bison Sports Arena. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
