
Southern Utah Ends 11-Game Bison Winning Streak, 74-69

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Davis Baker scored 23 points and played a key role down the stretch as Southern Utah scored the last six points of the game to beat Summit League-leading North Dakota State 74-69 on Saturday.
Baker scored four of the Thunderbirds' six points in the game-winning run, including a jumper with 37 seconds left that gave Southern Utah (9-16, 7-7) the lead for good at 70-69. He added two free throws and Jake Nielson clinched it with two free throws with six seconds left.
NDSU (19-6, 13-2) had won 11 straight games and 13 in a row at home. That streak ended when the Thunderbirds, who are in fifth place in The Summit League, shot 54 percent and outrebounded the Bison 29-22.
Tyler Quinney and John Clifford scored 14 points apiece and Nielson finished with 11.
Ben Woodside scored 29 points for NDSU. Brett Winkelman had 15 and Mike Nelson 11.
Winkelman's layup with 1:07 to play gave NDSU its last lead at 69-68. He moved into a tie with Denver TenBroek for second place on the NDSU career scoring list with 1,813 points.
North Dakota State closes out its home schedule against South Dakota State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Jackrabbits are 12-15 overall and 7-8 in the league after beating UMKC 76-66 on Saturday.
