
Red-Hot Bison Hand IUPUI Worst Home Loss in Six Seasons, 91-69

INDIANAPOLIS--North Dakota State made a season-high 13 three-pointers and the Bison cruised to their 10th straight victory 91-69 at IUPUI in Summit League men's basketball Saturday, Feb. 7.
North Dakota State improved to 18-5 overall and 12-1 in the league. NDSU has a 2 1/2-game lead over Oral Roberts after the Golden Eagles lost 74-65 at IPFW earlier Saturday.
It was the worst home loss for IUPUI since a 75-51 loss to Western Michigan in December 2002. The Jaguars fell to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in the league.
Mike Nelson and Brett Winkelman each scored 22 points to pace the Bison, who shot 56 percent overall and 13-for-24 from the 3-point line for 54 percent.
Winkelman added seven rebounds and five assists. Nelson chipped in four rebounds and three assists. He was 10-for-12 from the field altogether and tied his season scoring high.
Michael Tveidt scored 19 points including a career-high five 3-pointers, and Ben Woodside finished with 15 points, eight assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals.
North Dakota State shot 66 percent in the first half to take a 48-33 lead at intermission. Woodside made three straight 3-pointers to open up a 15-8 lead five minutes into the game and the Bison were 5 of 10 from the arc with only one turnover before halftime.
NDSU led by more than 20 for most of the second half. The Bison's biggest lead was 28 when Nelson's 3-pointer with 2:56 left to play made it 90-62.
Jon Avery had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead IUPUI, and Adrian Moss scored 10 of his career-high 13 points in the first half. Robert Glenn added 12 points for the Jaguars.
North Dakota State returns home for its next three league games beginning Thursday, Feb. 12, against UMKC and Saturday, Feb. 14, against Southern Utah.
