Box Score LANTANA, Fla.--Max Casper's RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning gave North Dakota State a 5-4 victory over St. Thomas University in college baseball Sunday, March 22, at the Palm Beach Challenge.
Andrew Stitt and Kenny Beese drew consecutive one-out walks, moved into scoring position on pitcher Anthony Kliniske's ground ball to second base, and Stitt scored the game-winner on Casper's hit down the left-field line.
It was the fifth straight win for North Dakota State, which improved to 6-10 overall. St. Thomas, an NAIA school, dipped to 11-20 overall.
Casper was 3-for-4 and Justin Kline was 3-for-5 to lead the Bison. Kliniske (2-1) held St. Thomas scoreless for 2 2/3 innings of relief with one hit, two walks and four strikeouts.
Kyle Harrison hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning and North Dakota State jumped out to a 4-0 lead through two innings.
Nestor Rincon homered in the fourth inning to get St. Thomas on the scoreboard. The Bobcats pushed across two unearned runs in the sixth before Lance Larimer's game-tying home run in the eighth.
Larimer finished 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs scored for St. Thomas.
North Dakota State concludes its Florida spring break trip with a single game at Florida Atlantic on Monday, March 23. Game time is 6:30 p.m. EDT.
The Owls are 13-6 after losing three straight in a Sun Belt Conference series at Middle Tennessee State this weekend.
