Box Score FARGO, N.D. - Freshman Brooklyn Dyce scored the first two goals of her career to lead North Dakota State to a 2-0 victory over Mary on Tuesday, Sept. 29. With the win, the Bison improve to 3-5-2 while Mary falls to 4-4-2. It was NDSU's third shutout of the season and first win since a 1-0 victory over Creighton on Sept. 1.
Despite racking up 11 first half shots, the Bison went into halftime tied with the Marauders at 0-0. NDSU brought the pressure in the second half, but were flagged for offsides three times early on.
Dyce broke the stalemate int he 61st minute, scoring off a long throw-in from sophomore Kristen Whipple. Today's game was Whipple's first game back on the field since a knee injury midway through the 2008 season.
Dyce gave the Bison a two-goal cushion in the 79th minute when she put in a shot from six yards out off a cross from sophomore Danielle Boldenow. Sophomore Megan Dean also assisted on the goal.
Freshman goalie Christie Stemple earned her second start and made one save in 45 minutes of action. Sophomore Kalani Bertsch played the second half and helped keep the clean sheet.
The Bison outshot Mary, 22-4, while earning five corner kicks to Mary's one.
NDSU kicks off Summit League action this weekend. On Friday, the Bison travel to Tulsa, Okla. for a 6 p.m. matchup with Oral Roberts. The team then heads to Centenary for a noon game on Sunday.
