Box Score FARGO, N.D.--Ben Botts scored five of his team-high 19 points on a late seven-point run to lead IPFW to a 68-59 victory over North Dakota State in Summit League men's basketball Saturday, Jan. 23, before a crowd of 2,906 at the Bison Sports Arena.
North Dakota State (6-12, 3-5) took its first lead of the second half on an Eric Carlson basket with 4:02 left, but IPFW answered with baskets by Botts and Antwone Snead and went ahead by six on Botts' third 3-pointer of the game inside a minute to play.
IPFW (9-10, 4-5) made four free throws in the final 38 seconds to secure the victory.
Carlson had 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half for NDSU, which trailed by as many as eight points midway through the second half before going on a 15-6 run to take the lead. Carlson had 10 points in that seven-minute stretch.
IPFW led 37-32 at halftime despite shooting only 36 percent. The Mastodons had 10 offensive rebounds and scored 10 second chance points before the break.
Trey McCorkle grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and had 10 points for IPFW, which outrebounded NDSU 41-35. Nick Daniels had 13 points and Zach Plackemeier finished with 12 points and five assists for the Mastodons.
Michael Tveidt scored 14 points for NDSU. Carlson added six rebounds and four assists, and Jordan Aaberg and Josh Vaughan each grabbed six rebounds for the Bison.
North Dakota State is scheduled to play its next three Summit League games on the road beginning Tuesday, Jan. 26, at UMKC. The Kangaroos are 9-10 overall and 3-5 in the league after a 65-64 loss to IUPUI on Saturday night.
