Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Trinity Hall's tip-in at the buzzer lifted UMKC to a 75-73 win over North Dakota State in Summit League men's basketball Tuesday, Dec. 28, before a crowd of 823 at the Swinney Rec Center.
Taylor Braun's twisting layup tied it at 73 with 6.2 seconds left and UMKC raced upcourt without using its last timeout.
Reggie Chamberlain missed a 3-pointer after nearly traveling to set his feet, and Hall came in wide open from the left wing to give UMKC (8-5, 1-2) its seventh straight home win.
Braun had 17 of his career-high 19 points in the second half for the Bison (7-5, 1-1), who trailed 43-23 at halftime. NDSU shot 29 percent in the first half but 59 percent in the second.
Michael Tveidt led NDSU with 20 points and eight rebounds, Freddy Coleman had 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals, and Drew Lundberg had 11 points and a team-high four assists.
Spencer Johnson had 16 points and a career-high 21 rebounds, and Chamberlain finished with 16 points and five assists for UMKC, which had five players in double figures.
Jay Couisnard had 15 points and seven rebounds, Hall finished with 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks in his first start of the year, and Bakari Lewis had 10 points.
NDSU cut the deficit to single digits with a 13-4 run inside six minutes to play. Tveidt's driving layup with 1:53 left cut it to 69-67.
After an offensive foul by Lewis on the other end, Tveidt missed two free throws with 1:22 to play, and Lewis made a 3-pointer with 24.1 seconds left to make it 72-67.
Braun's layup with 19.3 left cut it to one possession, Couisnard traveled after catching the inbounds pass, and the Bison converted it with another Braun layup to make it 72-71 with 16.4 left.
Couisnard made 1 of 2 free throws with 14.9 left to make it a two-point game, and Braun tied it on the next possession with 6.2 left.
UMKC had a 42-36 edge in total rebounds. Johnson's 21 were the second most by a Summit League player this season.
North Dakota State is scheduled to play Southern Utah (3-9, 0-2) at 7 p.m. MT on Thursday, Dec. 30, in Cedar City, Utah.
