Box Score FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State junior Danielle Boldenow's goal at the beginning of the first half was all the Bison needed for a 1-0 win over Green Bay on Friday, Aug. 27. With 207 fans in the stands, the Bison improved to 2-0-0 this season and Green Bay fell to 0-1-1.
Boldenow's goal came 1 minute 41 seconds into the contest on a strike from 19 yards out. Green Bay had a chance to equalize in the 12th minute, but Chelsea Colling's shot went just outside the left post.
The Bison continued to pressure the Phoenix defense, putting five more shots on frame in the first half. Senior Quin Ryan put a header just over the crossbar five minutes from halftime.
The Phoenix forced two saves from redshirt freshman goalie Kathy Kelsey midway through the second half. Kelsey earned her first career shutout with the win.
The Bison outshot the Phoenix, 18-6, and tallied eight shots on goal to Green Bay's two. Ryan's three shots on goal move her into 10th on the NDSU all-time charts for shots on goal with 44.
The Bison next travel to Omaha, Neb. to take on Iowa State Sept. 5 and Creighton Sept. 7. The next home game for the team is Sept. 14 against Mary.
