Box Score FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State sophomore Brooklyn Dyce scored two second half goals to lead the soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Mary on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The Bison improve to 4-1-2 overall and Mary falls to 1-3.
Senior Candice D'Arcangeli got the scoring started early with a sixth minute goal. Sophomore Holly Christian passed the ball up the field and D'Arcangeli was able to beat her defender and chip the ball over the goalie.
The Bison pressed for a second goal, taking 12 shots in the first half. Mary goalie Kassie Young made six saves in the half.
Dyce gave the Bison a 2-0 in the 52nd minute as she fired the ball into the lower left corner of the net off a cross from junior Abbey Stratton.
Dyce added her second goal of the season less than five minutes later, putting the ball in the back of the net after a scramble in the box off a throw-in. She also scored two goals against Mary last season.
Mary was able to pull one back in the closing minutes as Megan Wilson scored off an assist from Alex Bachman-Williams in the 88th minute.
Senior Marissa Wolfgram almost added another goal for the Bison, but her free kick clanged off the crossbar.
Redshirt freshman goalie Kathy Kelsey picked up her third win of the season after making one save. The Bison dominated the shot count, 21-5, and tallied four corner kicks to Mary's zero.
The Bison stay in Fargo to host Northern Iowa Sunday, Sept. 19 at 12 p.m. at the Ellig Sports Complex.
