Box Score OMAHA, Neb. ? The North Dakota State soccer team earned a 0-0 double overtime draw with Iowa State on Sunday, Sept. 5. The Bison are now 2-0-1 this season, while the Cyclones are now 4-0-2.
Junior goalie Kalani Bertsch made four saves and picked up her eighth career shutout in her first start of the season.
The Bison outshot the Cyclones, 15-9, and recorded seven shots on goal to Iowa State's four.
Senior Candice D'Arcangeli tallied the team's first shot on goal 45 seconds into the game, but Cyclones goalie Maddie Jobe was up to the task.
Bertsch made a key save with five minutes to go in the period and the Bison defense held strong as Iowa State had three straight corner kicks.
The second half started much like first with a shot on goal from D'Arcangeli. The Bison continued to pressure the Cyclone defense as senior Quin Ryan had a shot tipped over the bar. NDSU outshot the Cyclones, 6-1, in the second half.
In the first overtime period, Jobe made back-to-back saves on shots from sophomore Shannon Brooks and Ryan.
In the 95th minute, Bertsch parried a shot from Iowa State's Emily Goldstein. Junior Megan Dean forced a save from a tight angle just before the end of the period.
Bertsch made her fourth save of the game in the second overtime period. Ryan's final chance in the 107th minute was saved by Jobe. Iowa State earned a late corner kick, but nothing came of the chance.
The Bison stay in Omaha to play Creighton on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.
