Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. -Kyle Simon struck out a career-high 13 batters in 7 2/3 innings to lead No. 25-ranked Arizona to a 12-1 win over North Dakota State in college baseball Saturday, Feb. 19, at Jerry Kindall Field.
Arizona first baseman Cole Frenzel, a sophomore from Dickinson, N.D., went 3-for-5 with five RBIs to lead the attack. Designated hitter Josh Garcia was 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs for the Wildcats.
NDSU's only two hits in the game were a leadoff home run by Nick Colwell in the fourth and a pinch-hit single by Ben Herauf in the ninth.
Colwell's homer tied the game, but Garcia put Arizona ahead with his first shot in the bottom of the fourth, and the Wildcats scored twice in the fifth, sixth and seventh before tacking on four more runs in the eighth.
NDSU starter Mark Hermes took the loss allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
The final game of the series is scheduled for 12 p.m. MT on Sunday, Feb. 20.
