Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ROCHESTER, Mich. - North Dakota State earned its first ever four-game Summit League series sweep with 10-3 and 4-3 victories at Oakland in college baseball Sunday, April 17.

North Dakota State (9-18) has won seven in a row - its longest winning streak as a Division I program - and is off to its best start in four years with a 6-2 record in Summit League play.  Oakland fell to 7-20 overall and 1-7 in the league.

Nick Colwell homered and went 3-for-6 in the opener for the Bison, and teammate Zach Wentz was 3-for-5 with a double.  Wes Satzinger drove in five runs in the No. 9 spot, including a three-run double in NDSU's four-run fifth inning that gave the Bison a 7-3 lead.

Bison starter Luke Anderson went six innings and evened his record at 1-1 with the victory.  Anderson allowed three runs on five hits with four walks and five strikeouts before Kyle Kingsley tossed three scoreless innings for his second save of the year.

Oakland starter Russell Luxton gave up seven runs on 12 hits in 4 1/3 innings and dropped to 2-1 on the year.  OU catcher Ryan Waldhart was 3-for-4 in the loss.

NDSU took advantage of three walks and two hit batters and went ahead 3-0 in the third inning on Zach Heidmann's RBI single to right field, but that was the only Bison hit in the first six innings.

North Dakota State got another quality start in the second game from Zach Wentz, who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Oakland rallied to tie the game.

Oakland got on the board with a one-out double by Tim Ryan and an RBI single by Waldhart.  D.J. Jarrad hit a sacrifice fly and John Estes drew a bases-loaded walk with one out to make it 3-3.

NDSU went ahead in the seventh when Blake Turbak hit a two-out single, pinch runner Preston Ghizoni moved to third on a wild pickoff throw, and Colwell doubled to the right-center gap.

Jason Mattila pitched around a leadoff walk in the bottom of the save to get his second save of the year.  Wentz improved to 1-4 with the win.

Oakland starter Greg Welke allowed four runs on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts and dropped to 1-6 with the loss.

North Dakota State is scheduled to play at North Dakota at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, before hosting Oral Roberts in a four-game Summit League series starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
