Box Score ROCHESTER, Mich. - Lawrence Alexander's
3-pointer with 4.1 seconds left gave North Dakota State a 78-75 win over
Oakland in Summit League men's basketball Saturday, Jan. 28, before a crowd of
3,935 at the O'rena.
Alexander and Marshall Bjorklund
finished with 19 points apiece, and Taylor Braun had 15 points, four
rebounds and four assists for NDSU (14-7, 7-4), which won for the first time in
six trips to Rochester.
After losing three straight games, NDSU
inserted seniors Eric Carlson and Drew Lundberg into the starting
lineup for the first time all year. Carlson tallied nine points, nine
rebounds and six assists, and Lundberg scored nine points.
Reggie Hamilton had 37 points on 13-of-25
shooting including 6 of 12 from the 3-point line for Oakland (12-12, 6-6). Drew
Valentine had 15 points and Travis Bader finished with 12.
NDSU led 41-37 at halftime but went down by
as many as six points after Oakland went on a 13-3 run. Hamilton, who had
20 straight OU points over parts of both halves, scored 11 of the team's first
16 points after halftime.
Down 58-52 with 12:54 to play, the Bison
answered with a 7-0 run including a shot-clock beater from Lundberg and two
free-throws from Carlson.
NDSU trailed 72-68 with 3:32 left when Braun's
fifth 3-pointer of the game sparked another 7-0 run. Alexander had a tip-in of his own miss to go
ahead 73-72 and Carlson scored at the 1:25 mark to make it a three-point game.
OU went almost 3 minutes without a bucket
until Hamilton's 3-pointer tied it 75-75 with 35.5 seconds to go.
Oakland went 13-for-29 from the 3-point line
and shot 45 percent overall, while NDSU was 10-for-16 from the arc and 63
percent overall. The Bison had a 30-21 rebounding advantage.
North Dakota State hosts Southern Utah at 7
p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, and Oral Roberts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the
Bison Sports Arena in Fargo.
