Gene Taylor Receives Prestigious NDSU Blue Key Honor Society Doctor of Service Award

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State University Director of Athletics Gene Taylor was awarded the Blue Key Honor Society's Doctor of Service Award, one of the most distinguished awards a faculty member can receive at NDSU, on Tuesday, April 17.
The Doctor of Service Award was started by Blue Key Honor Society in 1930 and was first given to Dr. Clarence Putnam. Since then, the award has been given to recipients such as: Archibald Minard, William Sudro, Katherine Burgum, Prakash Mathew and many others.
These
Doctors of Service winners are individuals concerned with maintaining the
proper educational environment at North Dakota State University. Their
dedication, service, and genuine concern are truly notable; still another trait
distinguishes these people: unselfish dedication to NDSU.
Blue Key Honor Society chose Mr. Taylor for his dedication and guidance in the NDSU athletics program, where he has served as the Director of Athletics for 11 years.
As the Director of Athletics, Mr. Taylor has helped North Dakota State move from NCAA Division II to Division I, securing a Division I conference for the 16 intercollegiate athletic teams, serving on boards to get NDSU a home right away in Division I, and tripled the athletic budget, all while keeping in mind what would help and better the current student-athletes.
These accomplishments have proven that Mr. Taylor is more than deserving of the Doctor of Service Award.
