Box Score CHENEY, Wash. - North Dakota State freshman Lizzie Lukas picked an opportune time to notch her first career goal, scoring the game-winner in the 84th minute on Friday evening to give the Bison a 3-2 road victory over Eastern Washington.
The win was the first career victory for NDSU's first-year head coach, Mark Cook.
The Bison traded goals with Eastern Washington twice before Lukas took a pass from redshirt freshman Mary Krambeer and found the back of the net for the deciding goal in the 84th minute.
Sophomore Jaclyn Scanlan put NDSU up early with a goal in the seventh minute, but Eastern Washington responded in the 14th minute to tie the match at 1-1.
Senior Holly Christian gave the Bison a 2-1 advantage in the 63rd minute, with Scanlan tallying an assist. However, Eastern Washington's Alisha Stott knotted the match at 2-2 with a goal just five minutes later.
NDSU (1-2-0) was outshot by an 18-13 margin overall and a 10-6 margin in shots on goal, but redshirt freshman goalkeeper Sierra Bonham registered eight saves to earn the victory. Along with her goal and assist, Scanlan led the Bison offensive attack with four shots.
NDSU returns to action on Sun., Aug, 26, when it travels to Moscow, Idaho, for a 3 p.m. (CT) match with Idaho.
