FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State's Jordyn Wallenborn saw her team trailing South Dakota State 1-0 with just 10 minutes remaining in its Summit League opener on Saturday afternoon at the Ellig Sports Complex. That's when Wallenborn took matters into her own hands.

The senior from Camas, Wash., beat South Dakota State goalkeeper Elisa Stamatakis for the game-tying goal in the 81st minute, then scored the game-winner with just 40 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to propel the Bison to a win in the league opener.

North Dakota State (4-6-0, 1-0 Summit) put only two shots on goal for the entire game - both from Wallenborn - but they each found the back of the net.

South Dakota State (2-7-1, 0-1 Summit) outshot the Bison by a 20-5 margin and held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

NDSU redshirt freshman goalkeeper Sierra Bonham kept the Bison in the match early, registering six saves in the first-half alone. Bonham finished with seven saves.

After a scoreless first half, Christa Nyblom scored a goal in the 54th minute to give the Jackrabbits a 1-0 lead.

In the 81st minute, Wallenborn took a pass from junior Steph Jacobson and slipped her shot into the goal from a tight angle along the end line, knotting the match at 1-1.

In the 110th and final minute, sophomore Anisha Kinnarath made an impressive run up the sideline and struck a cross that found Wallenborn for a header into the right side of the goal.

"We kept saying just find the good, quality ball and it will come, and we finally got a good ball in to Anisha," said NDSU head coach Mark Cook. "She's a great, dynamic 1-v-1 player, and I knew when it was on her feet we had a real good chance. Jordyn must have made 100 long runs today. She was extremely gassed but made that last run, got her head on it, and won the game for us."

The Bison are now 2-0 at home on the season, with each win coming in the final minutes of the second overtime.

NDSU will travel to Oakland for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 5.
