FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State Bison women's soccer team defeated the Omaha Mavericks in Summit League play Friday, Oct. 11 at Dacotah Field, 2-1, in overtime. Lauren Miller netted the game-winning goal in the 98th minute to move the Bison to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in league play and drop Omaha to 3-6-2 overall and 1-1 in league action.

The Bison jumped on the board early in the match after Miller controlled a deflected ball near midfield in the 14th minute and was able to place it in the back of the net for the early 1-0 advantage.

Omaha was able to level the score at one in the 39th minute when a corner kick clearance attempt was inadvertently directed into the goal by the Bison, resulting in an own goal for the Mavericks.

The second half featured stellar defense from both teams as neither wanted to concede the go-ahead goal. After 90-minutes the score remained deadlocked at one, sending the match into a 10-minute, sudden-death overtime period.

The Bison had an early chance in overtime to score the game-winner, but Anisha Kinnarath's shot was saved by UNO goalkeeper Meaghan Clark to keep the match level.

NDSU finally found the winning goal in the 98th minute, just two minutes before the first overtime period expired. Kinnarath controlled the ball near midfield and found an unmarked Miller, who calmly slid the ball past Clark into the back of the net for the 2-1 victory.

Miller finished the match with two goals, her second brace of the season, tying her with Kinnarath for the team-lead in goals with six. Kinnarath's game-winning assist marked her first of the season.

Bison goalkeeper Sierra Bonham went all 98-minutes between the pipes, making two saves, moving her record in goal to 5-6 on the year. Clark took the loss for the Mavericks, dropping her to 3-6-2 overall in goal.

NDSU returns to Summit League action Sunday, Oct. 13, when they host the Coyotes of the University of South Dakota at Dacotah Field. First kick is set for noon.
