NDSU Basketball Tops Bryant 66-62 for Fourth Straight Victory

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team scored 42 second-half points to erase a five-point halftime deficit and defeat Bryant 66-62 at the Chace Athletic Center on Saturday, Dec. 7. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Bison, who improved to 6-3 on the season.
 
The game was the first of four contests in the BlackRock Gotham Classic for NDSU.
 
Senior forward TrayVonn Wright led the Bison with 18 points and eight rebounds. Marshall Bjorklund scored 15 points, all in the second half, and Taylor Braun added 14 points, five assists and four steals.
 
Sophomore Kory Brown matched his career high with eight rebounds, helping NDSU to a 44-28 advantage on the glass. The Bison had 25 second-chance points.
 
NDSU shot just 9-for-33 (27.3 percent) in the first half, but the Bison went 17-for-27 (63.0 percent) over the final 20 minutes.
 
Bryant (6-3) was led by 26 points from Dyami Starks.
 
NDSU trailed by as many as eight points at 28-20 with two minutes left in the first half, but the Bison battled back to take the lead at 37-35 on a dunk by Braun with 13:33 to play. A putback dunk by Wright with 2:51 remaining gave NDSU a nine-point advantage at 56-47.
 
Bryant used an 11-4 run to pull within two at 62-60, but Kory Brown came up with a block of Starks' three-point attempt with 12 seconds left, and NDSU held on for the victory.
 
NDSU will play next at Notre Dame on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
