Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Sophomore right-hander Trevor Jaunich limited Navy to one unearned run in a career-high eight innings, leading the North Dakota State baseball team to a 5-1 victory on Monday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Field.

Jaunich struck out four, walked one, and allowed five hits to improve to 1-0 on the season.

NDSU (6-6) scored the game's first three runs in the top of the second inning, capitalizing on three errors by the Midshipmen. Catcher Kyle Kleinendorst bunted home Kirk Kenneally and center fielder Tim Colwell singled in Kleinendorst and Jon Hechtner to give the Bison an early 3-0 lead.

Navy (6-8) scored an unearned run in the bottom of the second when Dave Milanes was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a passed ball, moved to third on a groundout and scored when Tate Leapaldt made a diving catch in left field for a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Huggins.

The Bison scored two runs in the fifth to set the final margin at 5-1 when Kenneally hit an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch.

Kyle Kingsley pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the victory.

Colwell finished the day 3-for-5, and Kenneally was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. NDSU left 10 men on base in the contest.
