Box Score 2 MINNEAPOLIS - The University of North Dakota snapped a seven-game losing streak to North Dakota State sweeping a doubleheader 8-2 and 7-4 in college baseball at the Metrodome on Saturday, March 30.
UND (9-9-1) scored four runs in the fourth and fifth innings in the opener and Tyler Ruemmele pitched all seven innings for the win. Paul Funk and Kyle Kleinendorst each had two hits in the loss for NDSU (12-11).
UND trailed in the nightcap until Patrick Riewer drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs to tie the game 4-4 and Jacob Threlkeld slapped a three-run double inside the left-field line to go-ahead for good.
Riewer pitched the final inning and two-thirds and improved to 2-0 with the victory. NDSU starter David Ernst dropped to 4-3 with the loss pitching 7 1/3 innings before giving way to closer Kyle Kingsley.
Ernst, Kleinendorst and Michael Leach had two hits apiece in the second game. Kirk Kenneally hit an RBI double in the first, Kleinendorst had a two-run single in the third, and John Skrbec bunted in a run in the eighth for a 4-2 lead.
North Dakota State is scheduled to open Summit League play with a four-game series at South Dakota State beginning Friday, April 5.
