Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The North Dakota State baseball team scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to turn a 5-2 deficit into a 6-5 lead, and senior John Straka recorded his 11th career complete game to lift the Bison to an 8-5 victory over Bowling Green at Chain of Lakes Stadium on Saturday morning.
It was the first of eight games in a 10-day stretch for the Bison. NDSU improved to 5-5 on the season, while Bowling Green fell to 3-9.
The 2-3-4 hitters in the Bison lineup all went 2-for-5 on the day, and each of the first six drove in at least one run. All nine Bison batters recorded at least one hit in the game.
First baseman Wes Satzinger led the offensive charge with two doubles and three RBI. Kirk Kenneally, Jon Hechtner and Michael Leach all doubled for NDSU.
Straka threw all nine innings, allowing four earned runs. He registered eight strikeouts and no walks.
Bowling Green and NDSU traded a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning and the top of the fourth. The Falcons strung together six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to push four runs across and build a 5-1 lead.
NDSU cut the deficit to 5-2 in the sixth inning, and the Bison scored four times in the seventh to take the lead for good. The four-run rally was capped by a Satzinger double that scored Blake Turbak.
Satzinger drove in two insurance runs with a two-out double in the top of the ninth.
NDSU will play Bucknell at 2 p.m. (CT) on Sunday in Lakeland, Fla.
