Skrbec, whose first home run of the year broke a 10-10 tie in the fourth inning of NDSU's 11-10 win over South Dakota State on Tuesday, nearly won it in the eighth inning when his fly ball was caught by Brandon Soat crashing into the wall in straightaway left field.

IPFW went ahead 1-0 in the fifth inning of Game 2 when Kendall Whitman's RBI single scored Shepherd after a hit-by-pitch, balk and stolen base. NDSU tied it with two outs in the sixth when Wes Satzinger homered down the left field line.
A two-run homer to left by Wirth gave IPFW a 3-1 lead in the top of the seventh. Pinch hitter Kyle Kleinendorst, Tim Colwell and Hechtner strung together three straight RBI singles with two outs for the victory.
NDSU's Jay Flaa pitched all seven innings in the nightcap allowing three earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks to improve to 1-0 on the season. IPFW reliever Connor McLaughlin allowed two runs in one-third of an inning and dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
