Bison Soccer Posts 1-0 Shutout Win at Fort Wayne Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The North Dakota State women's soccer team (7-6-2, 3-1-2 Summit League) posted a 1-0 shutout win at Fort Wayne (2-11-2, 0-3-2 Summit League) on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 19, at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

Anisha Kinnarath broke a scoreless tie and gave the Bison a 1-0 lead after she powered a shot from 10 yard out into the back of the net in the 28th-minute. The strike was Kinnarath's second of the season.

The Mastodons attempted to level the match twice the remaining 17 minutes of the first-half, but Bison goalkeeper Sierra Bonham saved both shots, keeping NDSU in front going into halftime.

For the second straight match, the NDSU defense and Bonham shined in the second-half, holding the Mastodons scoreless to seal the shutout victory for the Bison. The Mastodons tallied six shots on goal in the second frame, with the NDSU defense making two saves and Bonham posting four saves.

For the match, the Bison were outshot by IPFW, 18-11, and took only four corner kicks compared to Fort Wayne's eight.

Bonham accumulated a match-high eight saves between the pipes and allowed no goals to improve to 7-6-2 in goal and pick up her fourth shutout of the season.

IPFW goalkeeper Sam Pavlika took the loss between the pipes to drop to 2-11-2 overall.

The Bison are scheduled to host Denver at Dacotah Field on Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in the final home match of the season.
