The game was part of the 2k Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project.

Texas (1-0) limited the Bison to 17-of-62 shooting (27.4 percent), and the Longhorns owned a 51-32 rebounding advantage for the game. Sophomore guard Isaiah Taylor led all players with 16 points. Myles Turner, Texas' freshman phenom, tallied 15 points and six rebounds.

NDSU (0-1) was led by 16 points from senior guard
Lawrence Alexander, who tied his career-high with four three-pointers. Junior
Kory Brown added 10 points for the Bison, and freshman
Paul Miller had seven. Junior forward
Chris Kading topped NDSU with seven rebounds.

The contest was NDSU's 10th against a ranked Division I opponent, with the Bison now holding a 3-7 record in those games.

Texas jumped out to a 14-1 lead just over five minutes into the game as the Bison started 1-for-12 shooting. The Longhorns pushed their lead to as many as 24 points at 31-7 on a Demarcus Holland three-pointer with 5:02 left before halftime.

The Bison outscored Texas 9-6 over the final four minutes of the first half, with
Lawrence Alexander capping the half with a 30-foot three-pointer in the final seconds to make it 38-18 at the break.

The Longhorns opened the second half on a 15-4 run to push their lead to 53-22.

Along with Miller, Bison freshmen
A.J. Jacobson,
Evan Wesenberg and
Jake Showalter all made their collegiate debuts and scored their first points.
