Teschuk Caps Outstanding Season at NCAA Cross Country Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – North Dakota State University sophomore Erin Teschuk capped the most successful season in Bison women's cross country history with a 116th-place finish on Saturday at the NCAA Championships held at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
Teschuk finished the six-kilometer course in 21:18.1, putting her in the top half of the 255 competitors in the race. For the Winnipeg, Manitoba, native, it was her fourth-fastest 6k performance of the season, but it also ranks among the 10 best in NDSU history.
Teschuk was in 37th place 2,000 meters into the race and in 57th at the 4,000-meter mark. She was one of only two NCAA qualifiers from The Summit League and was the top finisher on Saturday. Teschuk won the league's individual crown in Fargo on Nov. 1.
Iona junior Kate Avery won the NCAA individual title with a time of 19:31.6. Michigan State captured the team title with 85 points, and Iowa State took runner-up honors with 147.
Teschuk will be a junior for the Bison in track for the upcoming 2015 seasons, but she is only a sophomore in cross country due to redshirting her freshman year in the fall of 2012. In outdoor track, she was the Summit League champion and an NCAA West Preliminary Rounds qualifier in the 3,000m steeplechase in 2014. Teschuk ranks second in NDSU history in the 1500m and is third all-time in the steeplechase.
