FARGO, N.D. – Kory Brown made a free throw with 1.8 seconds remaining to lift the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a 64-63 victory over Minnesota-Crookston on Tuesday night at Scheels Arena.

NDSU improved to 3-2 with its third straight victory. The Bison won their 14th consecutive home game and are now 27-2 in their last 29 home contests.

The Bison held a 63-53 lead with 3:49 left in the game, but Minnesota-Crookston scored 10 straight points over the next three minutes to tie the game at 63-63 with 24 seconds left. After an NDSU timeout, Brown drove the left side of the lane, drew a foul, and connected on the first of two free throws to give NDSU a 64-63 advantage.

Brown missed the second free throw, and the Golden Eagles grabbed the rebound and called a timeout. After its first attempt at a full-court pass was tipped out of bounds by Brown, UMC got one more chance but Derrick Redd's fadeaway jumper missed at the buzzer.

NDSU redshirt freshman A.J. Jacobson led all players with 18 points. Sophomore forward Dexter Werner scored a career-high 15 points off the bench and added six blocks – tying him for the second-most in a game in NDSU history. Brown matched his career best with 13 points.

Jacobson pulled down seven rebounds, and sophomore guard Carlin Dupree tallied four assists and four steals for the Bison.

NDSU led 21-12 just past the midway point of the first half, but the Golden Eagles slowly chipped away at the deficit until they tied the game at 31-31 with 3:32 left before halftime. The Bison got a three-point play from Werner with nine seconds left in the half to push their lead to 39-34 at the break.

Minnesota-Crookston shot 11-for-21 (52.4 percent) from beyond the arc in the game. NDSU went 14-of-27 from the floor in the first half but 8-of-28 after halftime. The Bison committed only six turnovers in the contest.

The Bison will travel to Bozeman, Mont., for a game at Montana State on Sunday, Nov. 30.
