Bison Men Cruise to 72-51 Road Victory over Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team rolled to its fourth straight victory with a 72-51 win at Montana State on Sunday evening inside Worthington Arena.
 
Senior guard Lawrence Alexander led the Bison with 18 points, and redshirt freshman A.J. Jacobson poured in 15 points on five three-pointers. All five NDSU starters scored in double-digits, as Chris Kading had 13, Kory Brown netted 11, and Carlin Dupree tallied 10 points. Kading and Dupree's point totals were season-highs.
 
NDSU (4-2 overall) shot 50 percent for the game and made 11-of-23 shots for a 48-percent effort from three-point range. The Bison dominated the rebounding battle with a 40-26 advantage and committed just six turnovers – their third straight game with eight or fewer.
 
Montana State (1-5 overall) was led by 17 points from senior guard Michael Dison.
 
NDSU held an 11-10 advantage seven minutes into the game before the Bison went on a 9-3 run to push their lead to 20-13. The Bobcats responded to pull within three points at 29-26 with 3:43 left in the half, but NDSU closed the half on an 8-1 run for a 37-27 lead at the break.
 
Montana State never got closer than nine points in the second half. The Bison led 58-46 with 11 minutes remaining when they went on a 14-0 run to seal their first road victory of the year.  Jacobson connected on four three-pointers in the first eight minutes of the second half.
 
Sophomore forward Dexter Werner pulled down eight rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench, sharing the team lead in boards with Alexander. Dupree recorded seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and only one turnover to go along with his 10 points.
 
Werner had three offensive rebounds to contribute to a 19-7 edge in second-chance points for the Bison.
 
The Bison will play at Southern Miss on Wednesday, Dec. 3, with game time set for approximately 7:30 p.m. (CT) as part of a basketball doubleheader in Hattiesburg, Miss.
