NDSU Wins 17th Straight at Home, 83-59 over Northland

FARGO, N.D. – Five Bison scored in double figures to guide the North Dakota State men's basketball team to an 83-59 win over Northland College (Wis.) on Sunday afternoon at Scheels Arena. With the victory, NDSU concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule with a record of 8-5.
Senior guard Lawrence Alexander led all players with 20 points. In his first game back from a knee injury, redshirt freshman A.J. Jacobson hit his first three shots from three-point range and finished with 17 points. Sophomore forward Dexter Werner posted 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for NDSU.
Freshman Evan Wesenberg scored a season-high 12 points off the NDSU bench on 6-of-9 shooting. Paul Miller chipped in 10 points and seven boards for the Bison.
The victory was NDSU's 17th consecutive at home – a streak currently tied for the eighth-longest in the nation. The Bison have won four of their last five overall, with the lone setback being a one-point loss to Kent State on Dec. 21 in El Paso, Texas.
The Bison trailed 21-17 almost nine minutes into the contest, but NDSU put together a 25-4 run for a 42-25 lead with 3:54 left in the half. The Bison led by at least 13 points for the rest of the game.
The Bison shot 60 percent for the game and posted a 31-22 rebounding advantage. NDSU had a 46-24 scoring margin in the paint.
Freshman Brian Ishola recorded a season-high in minutes for the second consecutive game, playing 26 minutes and scoring four points.
The Bison will open Summit League play at home on Friday, Jan. 2, against Oral Roberts at 7 p.m.
