FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State junior
Ashley Heinze captured the pentathlon title to get the NDSU women's track & field team started on the first day of the Thundering Herd Classic on Friday, Feb. 7. Heinze scored 3,654 points to win the pentathlon by more than 200 points and move to No. 5 on the NDSU all-time list in the event.
Heinze's score set a new Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility record. She recorded indoor personal-bests in the final three events – shot put, long jump and 800m – to set a lifetime-best score by 305 points. She now ranks second in The Summit League and top-50 in the nation this season.
Freshman
Rose Jackson took runner-up honors in the pentathlon, and her score of 3,437 points ranks her 10th in school history. NDSU's
Ann Govig was fourth with 3,148 points.
Senior sprinter
Ashley Tingelstad moved to No. 5 in school history in the 60m dash, clocking the fastest qualifying time in the prelims at 7.65 seconds. NDSU freshman
Morgan Milbrath will join Tingelstad in Saturday's 60m final after running 7.84 seconds for the third-fastest qualifying time.
Unattached NDSU senior
Faith Kruchowski won the open 400m dash in 57.36 seconds, and Bison redshirt freshman
Amy Andrushko was second in 58.15.

Deborah John ran 8.44 seconds for the fastest prelim time in the 60m hurdles. John and Kruchowski have both exhausted their indoor eligibility, but have one outdoor season of competition remaining for the Bison.
The Thundering Herd Classic will resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the men's weight throw. Running events begin at 2 p.m.
