Heinze Scores Personal Best for Sixth in UC Riverside Spring Classic Heptathlon

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – North Dakota State junior Ashley Heinze wrapped up the UC Riverside Spring Classic heptathlon by scoring a personal-best 4,703 points for a sixth-place finish to open her outdoor season on Friday.
 
Heinze (Moorhead, Minn.) moved up to seventh on the NDSU all-time list in the heptathlon with her new personal-best score. She closed the day with lifetime-best efforts of 97-00 (29.56m) in the javelin and 2:14.70 in the 800m. Her 800m time was the top time in the field.
 
Bison freshman Rose Jackson scored 4,522 points to place eighth in her first collegiate heptathlon. Freshman Deidre Hahn finished 12th with 3,930 points.
 
Annett Fleming, competing unattached in the meet, won the heptathlon with 5,643 points.
 
On Saturday, March 29, the field events begin at noon with the women's shot put, while the track events start at 3 p.m. with the women's steeplechase. The last event of the day is the men's 4x400m relay scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
