Emily Lesser won the hammer throw to open competition for the Bison women's track & field team at the Lyle Hokanson Classic on Friday, Apr. 11, at the Ellig Sports Complex.
Lesser registered the top throw at 190-03 (57.98m) to top the rest of the hammer throw field by 24 feet. The junior from Maple Grove, Minn., is the NDSU school record holder and an NCAA Preliminary Rounds qualifier in the event.

Katelyn Weimerskirch finished second with a personal-best toss of 166-00 (50.61m) that ranks her eighth all-time at NDSU in the hammer throw. True freshman
Courtney Pasiowitz placed fifth with her own personal-best of 159-11 (48.75m).
Saturday's action begins with the decathlon 110m hurdles at 10 a.m. and the heptathlon long jump at 10:30 a.m. The Lyle Hokanson Classic field events begin with the men's javelin at noon, and the running events start at 2:25 p.m.
